Beautiful colors and details in the leaves of these artificial feather leaf fern plant designs. The plant designs are made of plastic and are approximately 12″ high, 7″ high and a total of 20″ wide. Both plant designs are mounted (side by side), on one plot base. The rectangle shaped plot (base) measures 7.5″ x 2.5″. Weighted (w/natural aquarium gravel) low profile black plastic base; included.

I get asked a lot about the plants in my tanks. Here is the thing… they are all fake (the moss and leaves in my tanks are real though) – – I tried live plants years ago but they were a real challenge for me to keep alive, nice looking, move around to egg check or find snails, etc and over time I gave up on them. Honestly the snails don’t seem to care either as they sleep in, under and interact with the fake plants just as much as they did with the live. – Some of my plants came from some Amazon searches for “realistic terrarium plant” and others came from a place called Ron Beck Designs who is a reptile plant maker in the US and makes some amazing stuff. If you can have live plants in your tank that is great, but for those that can’t there are some really nice fake options out there. @ronbeckdesigns

The Leafy Sea Dragon or Glauert’s Seadragon (Phycodurus eques), is a marine fish in the family Syngnathidae. The family also includes Sea Dragons, Pipefish and Seahorses. It is the only member of the genus Phycodurus.

It is found along the southern and western coasts of Australia. The name is derived from the appearance, with long leaf-like protrusions coming from all over the body. These protrusions are not used for propulsion; they serve only as camouflage. The leafy seadragon propels itself by means of a pectoral fin on the ridge of its neck and a dorsal fin on its back closer to the tail end. These small fins are almost completely transparent and difficult to see as they undulate minutely to move the creature sedately through the water, completing the illusion of floating seaweed.
