New Miniature Artificial Greenery – Aquarium | Reptile Terrarium Plants

New Miniature Artificial Greenery - Aquarium - Reptile Terrarium Plants 1080 1920

Introducing the new

Miniature Artificial Greenery!

Finding mini sized artificial greenery isn’t so easy. The styles and variations out there are often too ‘cutesy’ and certainly wouldn’t compliment any aquarium reptile snake spider or beetle habitats.

The new designs are realistic in appearance and are perfect for those times when you need just a little greenery here and there! They are also a good size for mini terrariums used to house Jumping Spiders, Amphibians or Beetles. Most styles are versatile in use for either an aquatic environment or a reptile terrarium habitat.

There will be additional new styles added in the upcoming weeks.

Plant Chiropractics - Artificial Plants - Ron Beck Designs 1080 1080

Sometimes, the road traveled from there to here isn't smooth.

Considering just how much freight is on the move globally, it’s no surprise that many packages arrive ‘beaten up’ or dented.

And depending on how the contents were packed, things inside the package get bent, crushed and or broken.

Just like the new Green Willow Pepper Grass Blooms I recently received.

Sometimes you can fix the leaf bends / leaf positions and sometimes you cant because of product limitations by the design / manufacturing. So if you are willing to take a chance and use this hot water method, I recommend testing it on just one bloom initially just in case it reacts poorly to the hot water. Low quality plastics might melt and or fade in color. They can also fall part.

The following is the method I used to realign the Green Willow Pepper Grass Blooms. As you can see in the image, the end result was great!

The process is real easy and simple.

HOW TO REALIGN YOUR BLOOM

  1. Get a few tall shot glasses. Narrow bottom, fluted openings give you more choices how the bloom will look once reformed.
  2. Heat some water in microwave for 1 min. 45 seconds / 1000 watts. Do not use boiling water.
  3. Put a tooth pick into the stem of the bloom.
  4. Place your blooms into the shot glasses making sure all the leaves are positioned correctly. For a tighter appearing bloom, keep the bloom pushed towards the bottom. For a more open appearing bush, keep the bloom towards the top of the shot glass. The wider opening allows the laves to fan out more.
  5. Slowly pour the hot water into the shot glass. Use the tooth pick to move the bloom so that its centered.
  6. Now just let them sit while they soften. The water will naturally start to cool down (room temperature)  so you can remove them after about 30-45 minutes.
  7. Stick the tooth pick into a piece of foam so that the bloom is standing upright while it dries.

Theirs and Yours – Artificial Plants & Succulents

2 in 1 - theirs and yours - Artificial Plants - Ron Beck Designs

WHO’S HOUSE IS IT?

Theirs and Yours

The majority of my artificial plant designs have multiple uses. Many of the artificial plant designs work well in either a Reptile Terrarium Habitat or as a Home Decor artificial plant.

The Big Box store prices for most artificial plants are often over priced. Once purchased, you are stuck with the plant and container style (the pot it was glued into), forever. In some cases I guess a quick shot of spray paint might do depending on the materials originally used.

Styles change so switching their pot out isn’t always an option.

My Artificial Plant Designs are all attached to a low profile weighted base. Most plant bases are just a few inches in width and can easily fit into a variety of containers or pots. Some size limitations may apply by design. See the designs product description for further details.

To change out a container is now, real easy and doable! Simply place the design into the new, updated style container and cover it with your substrate.

Artificial Plants

Because of the ongoing supply chain issues, I have to postpone production / designing the new miniature desktop landscape gardens. There are key design elements for both varieties that I am currently unable to get. Therefore, the Miniature Desktop Gardens will hopefully be available early 2022.

Thanks for your continued support.

Handcrafted Artificial Plants – Hand Designed

What does he mean by saying "handcrafted artificial plants"?

One questions that pops up often is “what do you mean, you make them? Don’t you just cut the stems and glue them into a base?”

Yes, many of the plant designs I create are not “made” by me. After cutting all the leaves and stems from their core stem, I then begin the design process. Sometimes its just a matter of bending the stems in a realistic looking pattern, turning the leaves and then securing them all into a base.

I also “create” the base for the aquarium and reptile habitat plants. It is made up of a small plastic (food safe) container which is filled with river rock and then, secured within using nontoxic adhesive.

The art of it is often, it’s construction and creation.

Ron Beck Designs

And then there are the plants that I “make”. I do actually construct & design the entire plant along with its base. As you can see in the images below, the construction part begins by first cutting and choosing the leaves or stems.

After I’ve decided on the materials, I then begin to construct a base for the design. There is a center point spindle from which I plan the design.

From there I start placing / positioning the stems in a “realistic looking” design pattern. A great deal of thought go’s into the placement each and every stems or leaf.

The base will be then weighted (secured) with river rock. Each stone is hand chosen and placed around the inner base (trunk / stem) of the design. The river rock also adds stability to the design structure.

And here is the completed design!

Photo Editing: 15 minutes.
